Alghero... Sardinian, Italian, Catalan... and Wonderful....

As you travel to these far away places, you imagine if you could live there.  Alghero, Sardinia was a place we felt we could live.  It's a clean and progressive city on the Mediterranean Sea with a large and charming Old Town, a vibrant commercial district, a great waterfront and harbor, and an international vibe.  It has excellent restaurants and lots of outdoor cafes.  There is a noticeable Spanish and Catalan influence in the food, music, and culture.  Here are views of the harbor and the ramparts around the old town.... Our drive along the coast road from Bosa to Alghero was spectacular.  Yellow flowers were bursting forth, and every turn yielded another photo opportunity.... We stayed in Alghero for three nights at Hotel Angedras (Sardegna backwards).  It was clean, comfortable, and convenient.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  Everything worked, and parking was right out front.  ...

The Painted Houses of Bosa, Sardinia...

The small city of Bosa, Sardinia was our third of four stops on this Mediterranean island. We stayed for two nights at an agriturismo a couple of miles from Bosa, but it was an easy drive from there into the town.  Bosa is situated on the mouth of the River Temo, the only true river in Sardinia.  It is noted for it's brightly painted houses, castle on the hill, and excellent cuisine.... The drive from Oristano to Bosa was fairly short, and this was our first view of Bosa, as we rounded a curve, descending down to the river valley.... There is a wonderful stone bridge to enter the old town... And the river was beautiful, with boats bobbing in the water, and a few riverside cafes... We only had one day in Bosa, and spent the time walking the old town, admiring the narrow houses and narrow streets, and the occasional kitty cat....
