The Painted Houses of Bosa, Sardinia...

The small city of Bosa, Sardinia was our third of four stops on this Mediterranean island. We stayed for two nights at an agriturismo a couple of miles from Bosa, but it was an easy drive from there into the town.  Bosa is situated on the mouth of the River Temo, the only true river in Sardinia.  It is noted for it's brightly painted houses, castle on the hill, and excellent cuisine....

The drive from Oristano to Bosa was fairly short, and this was our first view of Bosa, as we rounded a curve, descending down to the river valley....

There is a wonderful stone bridge to enter the old town...

And the river was beautiful, with boats bobbing in the water, and a few riverside cafes...

We only had one day in Bosa, and spent the time walking the old town, admiring the narrow houses and narrow streets, and the occasional kitty cat....

We encountered these three guys attempting to raise a large piece of furniture up to and through a third floor window....wonder how that went...

We walked up many streets, and then up this stairway to the street below the castle.  The view was amazing from up there.  Then we heard that the castle was closed...

It was now time for lunch.  We had heard that the best place to eat was Osteria Locanda di Corte, so we headed off in that general direction, thankfully now walking downhill.  We started seeing signs...

And finally found it!  The owner of the Osteria was a true gentleman and described with pride each item on the menu.  The mussels and clams with fregola (little balls of pasta flavored with saffron) was one of the best seafood dishes we've ever had, and the shrimp ravioli wasn't far behind it...

The only other customers at the Osteria that day were two couples from Norway, who we spoke with at length.  They were going on to Alghero, as were we, but we didn't think much of it since Alghero is a fairly large city.  Little did we know....
