There are six ancient statues in central Rome that have been used by pundits through the centuries for political expression, protest, and dissent. Notes were secretly hung around their necks, or left beside them, for all to read, until removed by the authorities. Finding them makes for a fun exploration of Rome, and all can be located easily in half a day. And in doing so, you pass by or near many of the classic Rome sights. Pasquino is the most famous of the statues, and he is just off Piazza Navona. The others are Marforio, Babuino, Madama Lucrezia, il Facchino, and Abbot Luigi. Here they are....

Marforio is in Palazzo dei Conservatori. We didn't go inside to see him, but he's been there for a couple centuries....
